Business credit and personal credit are different
Personal credit follows you as an individual. Business credit follows your company: how it pays suppliers, lenders and other trade accounts. Many funders look at both, alongside how the business actually performs.
Where business credit is reported
The major business credit bureaus are Dun & Bradstreet, Experian Business and Equifax Business. Each keeps its own file, so your reports can differ. You can request your reports directly from each bureau.
What to check in your report
- Your business name, address and phone are correct and match your bank and tax records
- Accounts you have paid on time show as paid
- There are no accounts you do not recognize
- Any errors are disputed directly with the bureau that reports them
How we look at credit
We work across a wide range of credit scores and look at the whole business, not only the owner's score. Under 550: options may be limited. 550 to 650: good fit for most programs. 650+: best rates and highest limits.
